15 August, 2007

Its again 15 August, a annual ritual to remember Nehrujee dream of TRYST WITH DESTINY. From few days , radio and tv channels have already given me enough dose of partiotic songs so i was also ready in front of TV religiously to listen to our PM's address from the ramparts of Red Fort. A rite of passage, every indian goes through on 15 August every year to have a feel of the what's in offering for them . One leading Newspaper had troubling cover story on Nation's enetering into Menapause on its 60th anniversary of Independence Day this morning .. in between PM has started his speech on taking India to its rightful position on global order. A 5000 old country celebrating its 60th birthday wid so many achievemenst to cherish.. largest and most aspiratnt youth population, pot pourri of all the religions on earth , soft power of science, technology and education , a stable democracy in one of the most unstable geopolitical region ... ... But on flipside, the promises of eradicating hunger, providance of minimum health care and universal education , sustainence of agriculture, women empowerment and secure life without riots, violence and descrimination are far from coming true. Are 60 years enough time to ask our political masters what happened to those promises or we need to keep patient and wait for few more years and few more speeches from pur PMs to reiterate those promises- i was wondering as PM was concluding his speech.
I was not sure as our PM was...
Suddenly there was huge uproar of "HAI HIND" from those thousands of children listening to PM . Their smiling and excited faces had the promise to belief on India's marching ahead on its TRYST WITH DESTINY... .. As those colourfull baoons dotted the skyline of Delhi, those cheerful children of India waving , greeting and singing the National Anthem had given me the Answer to the question trobling me since morning ... Nation is on roll as long as we have got those smiles on those young faces ....
